Vincenzo Salemme in Natale in Casa Cupiello
by Eduardo De Filippo
“Natale in casa Cupiello” was first staged on Dec. 25, 1931 and was a one-act play to which two more acts were later added in stages to make up the final and final version known today.
The play is initially centered on the Christmas meal during which a jealousy drama takes place; it is later reworked by Eduardo, who has it begin two days earlier during which he describes the characters that make up the family, each with his own peculiarities and inner world.
On Christmas Eve in 1977, the taped comedy was broadcast by RAI, becoming more than a classic of television theater, a true ritual of Italians.
