Luxor is the modern name for ancient Uaset, called Thebes by the Greeks, a splendid capital during the New Kingdom and home to the two temples of Luxor and Karnak. The Temple of Luxor, a jewel of Egyptian architecture, built by Amenophis III and completed by Ramesses II, astonishes with the harmony of its proportions and the elegance of its reliefs; the Temple of Karnak fascinates with its grandeur and complexity: countless details of great interest, from the gigantic Hypostyle Hall, a forest of 136 columns more than 20 meters high, to the elegant obelisk of Queen Hatshepsut, the "Hall of Feasts" and the "Botanical Garden" of Tutmosi III.

Buffet breakfast on board the motor vessel. Visit the Valley of the Kings, the temple of Queen Hatchepsut and the Colossi of Memnon. Lunch on Board and Navigation to Edfu. Dinner and overnight stay on board.
The west bank of Luxor, is the area dedicated to funerary constructions, as the west, the place where the sun sets, was believed to be the land of the dead and the entrance to the otherworld. Here the pharaohs of the New Kingdom had their tombs dug into the rock and decorated them with splendid paintings; here Queen Hatshepsut had her funerary temple, the Sublime of the Sublime, built of great architectural boldness and staggering modernity; here the Colossi of Memnon, lonely sentinels, testify to the glory and splendor of the distant past.

DAY 6 12.04.2023 LUXOR/EDFU/KOM OMBO
Breakfast on board, and visit Edfu. Lunch on Board and sail to Kom Ombo. Visit Kom Ombo, and continue on to Aswan. Dinner and overnight stay on board.
Built in Ptolemaic times, the temple at Edfu is the best preserved in all of Egypt and is a classic example of an Egyptian temple in which all components, from the entrance pillar to the sanctuary, are perfectly legible. The wall reliefs depict important moments in the religious life of the Egyptians, from the foundation ritual to the struggle of Horus, the god to whom the temple is dedicated, against Seth, the god who killed Osiris and symbolized the forces of chaos and disorder.
a Luxor is the modern name for ancient Uaset, called Thebes by the Greeks, a splendid capital during the New Kingdom and the site of the two temples of Luxor and Karnak.
The Kom Ombo temple is dedicated to two deities, the hawk Horus and the crocodile Sobek, and has the peculiarity of duplication of all parts of the temple itself: double entrance, double shrine, etc. Of great interest is a wall where some surgical instruments and the Nilometer are depicted.
In both temples, the reliefs, which are in an excellent state of preservation, offer a beautiful example of Ptolemaic art, where, having lost the classicism of the Pharaonic era, Egyptian art opened up to new solutions, derived from the encounter with Greek civilization, which produced results of great beauty
