LOMBARDY With more than 9 millions inhabitants Lombardy is the more populous region in Italy. Located in the north-western area, it is mostly level and is surrounded in the north by mountains. The main summits in the Bernina group reach almost 4000 meters; almost all the border with Switzerland and Trentino Alto Adige is mountainous. Lombardy is the most wealthy Italian region. The main cultures are cereals, fruits, vegetables, grapes and forages. Industries are developed, particularly metallurgical, siderurgical, textile, chemical, foodstuff, editorial, shoes and furnitures. Tertiary too is well developed. Tourism is concentrated in the lakes area, on the mountains and in the art cities. Up to here data and figures.... but no data are enough to describe what this region may offer to those who can pick up , far from "business stress". We propose basic itineraries: we think they may be sufficient to allow the discovery of the beauties of Lombardy.
